Advanced Kindergarten
Applications for 2012-2013 Advanced Kindergarten are due to the Gifted and Talented Department on or before October 26th.
Information meetings will be held at each Advanced Kindergarten site. Attend any meeting at the elementary schools listed below for information about the Advanced Kindergarten program.

Advanced Kindergarten classrooms are designed for students who are academically advanced for their age with exceptional curiosity, attention span, interests, and verbal or mathematical ability. It was developed so the students who already know much of the kindergarten curriculum do not have to repeat it.
Children in Advanced Kindergarten show the following traits:
- Facility with numbers or words
- Able to use learning in new contexts
- Curiosity
- Extensive vocabularies
- Solves problems in unique ways
- Good memories
- Fast learners
- Sustained attention spans
- Works independently
- Socially advanced
Current Advanced Kindergarten sites are: Archuleta, Center for Early Education, Edison, Gust, Palmer, Polaris at Ebert, Stedman and William Roberts.
The Advanced Kindergarten program is not a part of the Gifted and Talented or Highly Gifted and Talented programs.
Students must by five years old by October 1st of the year they enter kindergarten.
The application process for Advanced Kindergarten is managed directly by the Gifted and Talented Department. Do not contact these schools for application information.
