Here is a press release from the Denver Public Schools regarding another way your family can support the people of Haiti. Please read below and help in any way you can. We are aware of several schools that have already begun planning for bake sales next week. Please inquire about your local school on their plans and how you can help. What an amazing teachable moment this can be for the whole family.
Dear Friend of Denver Public Schools –
As news of the devastation in Haiti continues to dominate the headlines, our thoughts are with the thousands of people who have been so greatly impacted. Especially because the Denver Public Schools family includes so many students, teachers and staff from around the world, I know we are all searching for our own way to help.
Together with our school leaders, DPS is organizing a district-wide Bake Sale to Benefit Haiti. The details of this initiative are as follows:
· Denver Public Schools Bake Sale to Benefit Haiti
· Tuesday, January 26, 7am-9am
· Every school is invited and encouraged to participate
· More event details and list of participating schools is featured prominently on www.dpsk12.org
We invite you to show your support by stopping by a participating school on Tuesday, January 26 from 7am-9am and purchasing a few goodies – or just donating what you can. 100% of proceeds will benefit earthquake victims in Haiti.
In addition, please take a moment to view a brief video message from DPS Teacher, Nicole Weaver, who is from Haiti and has joined the DPS relief effort. Click on “Featured Video” at http://www.dpsk12.org/.
Thank you for all you do to support our students and families – and the people of Haiti at this critical time.
